Speech Therapy for Stammering

Stammering is a language disorder that causes frequent and significant problems with normal speech and fluency. People who stutter know what they want to say, but have trouble saying it. For example, they can repeat or lengthen a word, syllable, consonant, or vowel. Or they stop talking because they encounter an annoying word or sound.

Stammering is an integral part of language learning in young children. Young children can stutter if their speaking and language skills are not developed enough to follow what they are trying to say. Most children outgrow this stutter developmentally.
